01. The Premise
The Veil of Maya is an old idea: what we take for the world is a surface, and the surface can be torn. O Véu takes the metaphor literally and puts it in the street. A veil, as a physical object and as a concept, placed where the city offers the least context possible, so that its presence alone produces the estrangement. Nothing announces it. You come across it.
02. The Work
An urban intervention built around a veil: transparency and concealment, what is seen through it and what it hides. The piece works on the passage between reality and illusion, and it is designed so that the space around it becomes part of the work rather than a backdrop. The visual language is playful and dreamlike, deliberately out of step with its surroundings. It is not made for a gallery; the point is that it is not in one.
